If you’re preparing for youth soccer tryouts in Nashville, one of the most common questions parents ask is:

“What age group will my child be in?”

At Nashville Fútbol Club, we want to make that process as simple and clear as possible.

How Age Groups Work in Youth Soccer

For the 2026–2027 season, U.S. Soccer age groups are based on your child’s birthdate. This system ensures players compete with others in a similar stage of development.

How This Connects to Nashville Fútbol Club Programs

At Nashville Fútbol Club, we structure our programs to support both development and competition:

  • U9–U12 Academy Program

Focused on skill development, confidence, and a strong technical foundation

  • U13–U17 Select Program

A more competitive environment focused on tactical growth and preparing players for higher levels of play

(U19 teams are formed based on roster needs and availability)

What Coaches Look For at our Youth Soccer Tryouts

While age groups are determined by birthdate, player placement is based on development.

During tryouts, we evaluate:

  • Technical ability

  • Decision-making

  • Work rate and attitude

  • Coachability and growth potential

Our goal is to place each player in the right environment to develop and enjoy the game.

Not Sure Where Your Player Fits?

If you’re unsure about your child’s age group or the best program fit, we’re happy to help.

We regularly work with families across Nashville, Donelson, Hermitage, Madison, and Old Hickory who are new to club soccer.
